What is Connecting Circles?
Connecting Circles is a community-focused organisation that supports wellbeing across individuals, families, communities and society. Alongside the evidence-based therapy we provide, we work collaboratively with schools, workplaces and community groups to create opportunities for shared understanding and meaningful change through evidence-informed programs, wellbeing initiatives and psychoeducation.
What is the Connecting Circles approach?
Connecting Circles was created from a simple belief.
When the people and environments that shape our lives better understand one another, opportunities for positive and sustainable change can grow.
We recognise that people may not always share the same immediate goals, but they often share underlying values, needs and hopes that can help create common goals.
We also believe meaningful change often begins with the individual. Through greater self-understanding, new skills and more effective communication, people can strengthen the relationships and environments around them.
At Connecting Circles, we believe both context and personal agency matter. Sometimes change is supported by bringing people together. Sometimes it begins by helping one person better understand themselves and influence the circles they are part of.
As Connecting Circles continues to grow, the ways we provide support may evolve, but the philosophy that guides our work remains unchanged.
I don't know which service is right for me. What should I do?
That's perfectly okay. Not every situation fits neatly within a predefined service. Whether you're seeking individual therapy, family support, relationship counselling or a community initiative, we're happy to have a conversation and help you explore the most appropriate pathway.
Is Connecting Circles Psychology interested in pilot partnerships or new wellbeing initiatives?
Yes.
Connecting Circles is committed to growing alongside the communities we work with. We may partner with schools, workplaces, organisations and community groups to develop or pilot new wellbeing initiatives, workshops or programs.
These opportunities allow us to collaboratively explore ideas that reflect the unique needs and strengths of a community while contributing to the ongoing growth of our services.
If your organisation is interested in discussing a pilot initiative or collaborative project, we welcome you to get in touch.
I have an idea for a workshop or program that isn't listed on the website. Can I still contact Connecting Circles Psychology?
Absolutely.
Not every opportunity fits neatly within a predefined service. Sometimes support begins with a conversation, a shared idea or an emerging community need.
Whether you're a school, workplace, early learning service, community organisation or local group, we are always open to discussing new possibilities and collaborative approaches to wellbeing.
Can schools or organisations request a workshop on a specific topic?
Yes. Programs and professional learning opportunities can be tailored to reflect the needs of your community. In fact, some of Connecting Circles Psychology's most exciting and unique evidence-informed programs have emerged through conversations and collaboration with schools.
Do you provide one-off workshops or ongoing partnerships?
Both may be possible depending on the goals and needs of the organisation.
What kinds of groups do you work with?
We welcome opportunities to collaborate with schools, early learning services, workplaces, community organisations and local groups.
Can you develop a new program for our community?
Yes. Not every opportunity fits within a predefined service. We are always open to discussing new ideas and emerging community needs. Our aim is flexibility and collaboration. If something is not within our scope, we value transparency and will work with you to explore appropriate options where possible.
I don't see the exact service I'm looking for. Can I still get in touch?
Absolutely.
Connecting Circles continues to grow and evolve. While some services are still developing, we welcome conversations about new ideas, group programs, assessments, relationship counselling and community initiatives. Sometimes support begins with a conversation.
Do you currently offer assessments?
Assessment services are an area of growth. Please contact us to discuss your needs, as options may be available depending on the circumstances.
Can I access services through telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth appointments are available Australia-wide, with limited face-to-face and after hours appointments available by arrangement.
When will more frequent face-to-face appointments be available in Melbourne's south-east?
Connecting Circles currently provides telehealth services Australia-wide, with limited face-to-face and after hours appointments available by arrangement.
We are actively establishing a larger dedicated practice space in Melbourne's south-east to expand opportunities for our face-to-face support and community-based services. We appreciate your support as we build this thoughtfully and sustainably.
While community partnerships, programs and initiatives remain central to our vision, we are also continuing to develop and grow the therapy arm of the organisation.
If you are seeking face-to-face support, we encourage you to get in touch. Depending on your needs and availability, options may still be possible at our current location.
What can I seek support for?
People access therapy for many reasons, including anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, parenting challenges, relationships, grief, identity, emotional wellbeing and self-understanding.
How do Medicare rebates work?
Some clients may be eligible to receive Medicare rebates for psychology sessions through a Mental Health Treatment Plan.
A Mental Health Treatment Plan is usually prepared by a GP when psychological support is considered appropriate. Eligible clients may also be referred by a psychiatrist or paediatrician in certain circumstances.
If you are eligible, Medicare may provide rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions each calendar year. Medicare rebates do not usually cover the full session fee, meaning there may be an out-of-pocket cost.
You do not need a referral to access psychology services privately. Private clients are welcome to self-refer, however Medicare rebates will not apply.
If you're unsure whether a Mental Health Treatment Plan is right for you, we recommend speaking with your GP or getting in touch with us. We're happy to help you understand your options and the referral pathways that may be available.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can contact us directly to access services privately. If you wish to access Medicare rebates, you will need a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP, or other eligible medical practitioner.
Can parents attend sessions?
Yes. Parent and caregiver involvement can be an important part of supporting children and adolescents.
Depending on a child's age, needs and treatment goals, parents may be invited to participate in some sessions or meet separately to discuss strategies that support the child's wellbeing. These appointments remain focused on the child's care and treatment.
If you are seeking support primarily for your own parenting journey or family circumstances, a Parent Support Consultation may be a more appropriate option.
What is a parent support consultation?
A Parent Support Consultation is a private appointment designed for parents and caregivers who would like guidance, support and practical strategies in relation to their child's wellbeing, development or family circumstances.
Unlike parent involvement within a child's therapy, these appointments are focused on supporting the parent or caregiver and are accessed as a separate service. Parent Support Consultations are not eligible for Medicare rebates.
If you're unsure which option is most appropriate, please get in touch and we can help you determine the best pathway for your family.
Are Parent Support Consultations attended with or without my child?
Parent Support Consultations are typically designed to be attended by parents or caregivers without their child.
These sessions provide dedicated time to discuss concerns, build understanding and explore practical strategies to support your child's wellbeing and family relationships.
Where parent involvement forms part of a child's therapy, this can also be discussed and incorporated as appropriate.
Is family therapy eligible for Medicare rebates?
Family therapy sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates.
How does family therapy work via telehealth?
Family therapy can be successfully provided through telehealth and, for many families, offers a flexible way to access support.
Where appropriate, family members can join from different locations using separate devices. This can be particularly helpful when coordinating busy schedules, supporting separated families or including important people who may not be able to attend in person.
For families located in Melbourne's south-east who would prefer to meet face-to-face, limited appointments may also be available by arrangement. We understand that bringing families together during standard business hours is not always easy, and where possible, weekday after-hours or Saturday morning appointments may be discussed.
If you're unsure which approach is best for your family, we encourage you to get in touch. Together, we can explore the option that best supports your family's needs.
Do you offer relationship counselling?
Yes. Connecting Circles is expanding its relationship counselling services as part of the ongoing growth of the practice.
Relationship counselling may support couples and individuals who would like to strengthen communication, navigate challenges, better understand relationship patterns, build common ground and work towards positive change together.
Our approach is informed by contemporary evidence-based and evidence-informed practice, with ongoing professional development and training remaining an important part of the way we work.
If you're seeking relationship support, we encourage you to get in touch. Together, we can discuss your needs and whether this service is the right fit for you.
Is relationship counselling eligible for Medicare rebates?
Relationship counselling sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates.
